The user configurable rules engine within Concourse provides the ability to accommodate an almost unlimited assortment of back office environments without requiring additional customized coding. However, sometimes there are unique aspects of a client’s environment that require some additional software development. Product or Project Customizations
Concourse customizations for a client can be carried out by either the BHMI project team responsible for a client implementation or the Concourse product team. Essentially, responsibility for given customization will be dependent on the impact of the customization on the Concourse product code. If requested customization can be carried out without impacting the baseline Concourse product code, the BHMI project team responsible for the client implementation will generally perform the customization. If Concourse product code needs to be modified to support the customization, the Concourse product team will be tasked with the responsibility. In fact, if the requested customization is determined to be a useful additional feature for Concourse, it may become part of the baseline Concourse product code.
Concourse and Commercial Environments
The Concourse Financial Software Suite is a powerful set of back office applications that BHMI originally targeted to address the back office needs of financial institutions, payments processors, and financial networks. However, Concourse has the capability to address the needs of any large‑scale commercial enterprise with demanding back office requirements. Concourse has been used as an integral component of baseline commercial transaction processing. In this role, Concourse has to interface with an assortment of third party applications that serve as sources of transaction data to Concourse or as related consumers of such data from Concourse. This is an area in which Concourse customizations have been needed. Non‑product customized data loaders and extracts comprise one of the major areas in which Concourse customizations have been needed.
